“I knew from that first trip I would be coming back every year, whether I was booked or not. The vibe is really special: from the crowd, to the production, and the programming. There are a handful of festivals I stay at for their entirety and Love International is one of them. It has a charm about it that pulls you back in,” says Moxie, remembering her first time at Love International. Held in Tisno, on Croatia’s beautiful Adriatic coastline, since its inception 10 years ago the festival has been celebrated for its excellent line-up curation, enchanting atmosphere, and creating a family-like community far beyond its roots.
Moxie’s ‘The Sound of Love International’ marks the seventh in the compilation series, following in the footsteps of Palms Trax, Orpheu The Wizard, Shanti Celeste and more. Inspired by the theme “u skladu”, meaning “in harmony” in Croatian, Moxie curated tracks with different moments in mind: the Sunrise Sessions on the beach, peak time at Barbarellas, the deeper grooves of the Olive Grove. Tracks from Karizma, Eden Burns, and Helen Sharpe align perfectly. Dub, soul, and flowing percussive elements resonate throughout the collection; uplifting selections reflecting the warmth and emotion of the festival itself.
“I feel really chuffed as a lot of work went into building this compilation,” beams Moxie, when we congratulate her on the award. “I also worked alongside a great team, including Dave Harvey, Ellie Stokes, Chez de Milo and everyone at Prime Distribution. I’d been manifesting working on a project like this for years, so when it all came together I was so happy with it. But to have recognition from the DJ Mag public vote is the cherry on the cake.”
